class=\"kt-block-spacer kt-block-spacer-halign-center\"><hr class=\"kt-divider\"\/><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>With Hosea, we turn to the so-called \u201cMinor Prophets,\u201d traveling to the Northern Kingdom of Israel and jumping to its final days, shortly before its downfall.<br>In terms of time, we find ourselves with Hosea about 150 years before Daniel and Jeremiah, in the second half of the 8th century B.C.<br>Hosea witnessed the destruction of Israel during his lifetime. The capital, Samaria, fell in 722 B.C. in the battle against the Assyrians, but his prophetic mission extended beyond that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hosea began his prophetic ministry here, following Jonah, at the end of Amos\u2019s ministry. In the Southern Kingdom of Judah, the prophets Micah and Isaiah were preaching at the same time on God\u2019s behalf.<br>Hosea\u2019s name means \u201csalvation,\u201d \u201cdeliverance,\u201d \u201cSavior,\u201d or \u201cGod is help.\u201d<br>The kings of his day are named by the prophet himself, right in the first verse of the first chapter \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He grew up during the reign of King Jeroboam II. This reign was characterized by \u201chumanly\u201d skillful political maneuvering, devoid of honesty or loyalty, and by an ever-increasing moral decay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prophet\u2019s calling was to hold up a mirror to the people through his own life\u2014a mirror meant to keep before their eyes God\u2019s suffering and pain for His people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is hard to imagine what Hosea must have gone through in his heart all those years, what fear, what suffering, what pain he endured\u2014without ever giving up his love, which was a reflection of God\u2019s love for the people of Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In our time, it is easy for us to look back at the past, to see the unfaithfulness of God\u2019s chosen people\u2014and the consequences for the Jews over all the millennia since then\u2014<br>but what about ourselves?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are about 15 million people of the Jewish faith in the world, and at the same time around 2.5 billion \u201cChristians\u201d\u2014so there should be 167 times as many followers of Jesus in this world as there are Israelites!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And now we must ask ourselves\u2014where are all our brothers and sisters?\u2014Where do we stand ourselves?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prophet Hosea married a woman whom he knew in advance would be unfaithful to him time and again!<br>Just as God had made a \u201ccovenant\u201d with the people of Israel at Mount Sinai\u2014even though the Almighty already knew that His servant Moses had not even come back down yet, and the people had already created another \u201cgod\u201d for themselves\u2014a golden calf. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through Hosea\u2019s actions, we learn about God\u2019s incredible love for us, about God\u2019s patience with every person, and that nothing is impossible for Him.<br>But we also learn that guilt and sin always have consequences, that we must turn away from this behavior, and that restoration is a process that takes time and tests our faithfulness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Book of Hosea sheds light on the \u201cspiritual\u201d history of Israel up to its final repentance and acceptance in the last days\u2014but read it for yourself \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n<style>.wp-block-kadence-spacer.kt-block-spacer-2494_bc6ad1-42 .kt-block-spacer{height:30px;}.wp-block-kadence-spacer.kt-block-spacer-2494_bc6ad1-42 .kt-divider{border-top-width:1px;height:1px;border-top-color:#eee;width:80%;border-top-style:solid;}<\/style>\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-spacer aligncenter kt-block-spacer-2494_bc6ad1-42\"><div class=\"kt-block-spacer kt-block-spacer-halign-center\"><hr class=\"kt-divider\"\/><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Outline of the Book of Hosea:<\/h3>\n\n\n<style>.wp-block-kadence-spacer.kt-block-spacer-2494_2f0a56-80 .kt-block-spacer{height:30px;}.wp-block-kadence-spacer.kt-block-spacer-2494_2f0a56-80 .kt-divider{border-top-width:1px;height:1px;border-top-color:#eee;width:80%;border-top-style:solid;}<\/style>\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-spacer aligncenter kt-block-spacer-2494_2f0a56-80\"><div class=\"kt-block-spacer kt-block-spacer-halign-center\"><hr class=\"kt-divider\"\/><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">We can divide the Book of Hosea into two main sections:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>A.
