class=\"kt-block-spacer kt-block-spacer-halign-center\"><hr class=\"kt-divider\"\/><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Habakkuk is the eighth of the so-called \u201cminor\u201d prophets, and chronologically, the order in the Bible\u2014as the successor to Nahum in \u201cGod\u2019s call\u201d\u2014is almost accurate. \ud83d\ude42<br>During his lifetime, this prophet witnessed the rise of the Neo-Babylonian Empire, while injustice and lawlessness increased in his homeland of Judah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He thus follows in the footsteps of Nahum and Zephaniah, and alongside him, the prophet Jeremiah also proclaims God\u2019s word. Both witness the fulfillment of judgment upon Judah and Jerusalem and can be considered the last prophets in the Kingdom of Judah.<br>Toward the end of Habakkuk\u2019s ministry, the first prophets of the Babylonian exile, Daniel and Ezekiel, are raised up\u2014and with that, our knowledge of Habakkuk also comes to an end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two different views on the meaning of the name Habakkuk\u2014well, perhaps both are \u201ccorrect.\u201d<br>On the one hand, it can mean a herb that is cultivated\u2014perhaps basil or mint.<br>But \u201cone who embraces\u201d or \u201cone who clings to God\u201d are also mentioned\u2014and there are certainly plenty of plants that like to wind their way around something as they grow\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In some ways, the Book of Habakkuk reminds us of the books of Jonah and Job\u2014these two men of God also had a \u201cproblem\u201d with God\u2019s ways\u2014albeit for entirely different reasons.<br>Here we witness a \u201cconversation\u201d between God and the prophet; however, unlike most of his prophetic predecessors, Habakkuk does not speak from God to the people\u2014but rather about the people to God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, Habakkuk laments that God permits all the injustice taking place among the people.<br>\u2013 God\u2019s response consists of the announcement of judgment upon Judah by the Chaldeans.<br>Then the prophet complains a second time, asking for mercy and for another answer.<br>\u2013 This answer is that God will punish all the unrighteous\u2014from all nations\u2014but the righteous will be saved from all of this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final chapter of the book of Habakkuk consists of a psalm, a song of praise, and a preview of the judgment upon the nations at the coming
