Why a partnership?
We call it „partnership“ here – the original Greek text of the New Testament contains the word „ekklaesia“, which is commonly translated as church, but actually has nothing at all to do with buildings and walls.
A better translation is congregation, but originally ekklaesia is understood as an assembly / gathering of people – and in the biblical sense as an assembly of people who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
Until a few years ago, this „ekklesia“ was only possible locally, but this has changed thanks to technology such as the telephone and internet, as well as modern means of transportation.
The decision to confess this Jesus from the Bible as your Lord and to feel that you belong to this „body of Christ“ with all „rights and duties“ is the only requirement you should fulfill in order to become part of Lion of Judah.
According to God’s Word (e.g. Acts chapter 2, verse 42), fellowship among Christians is an indispensable characteristic of Jesus‘ church – and for many good reasons.
Some have already been mentioned on the home page, such as the fact that according to the Bible all God’s children are one body (Romans 12:5) and a healthy, functioning body consists of many parts working together in harmony – no member can exist alone.
But the community also serves to protect us personally. From beginning to end, the Bible is full of references to the fact that an individual cannot survive in the long term, but will inevitably fall. As Christians, we are not successful lone warriors – at least not for very long.
Even the first apostles, on Jesus‘ instructions, did not go out alone, but always had believing brothers and sisters with them.
Even if we have put on the whole armor of God (cf. Ephesians chapter 6, verses 11 – 17) – and have learned how to use it – our backs are still unprotected!
We all need a brother or sister so that we can protect each other from all attacks from behind; someone to cover us and help us get back on our feet when we fall.
Fellowship with one another – whether in person, in prayer or via e-mail, internet, telephone and post – means enrichment for each of us:
- the enrichment of being able to get to know a part of our eternal family already in „this world“
- as well as support and protection, precisely in „this life“ where we still need it and can also be there for each other!
I already belong to a congregation or church!
Great, it is also biblical as a Christian to belong to a local church, most of us do that too and we can only encourage everyone else to do so.
We do not want to and cannot replace a local church, but want to serve and support all „those who are building God’s kingdom“. This „body of Jesus“ to which we belong together is not limited to one village, one city or one country – it stretches around the whole world. We have brothers and sisters in all nations, many of whom are not nearly as well off as we are, and they would be grateful for our support. Some are persecuted and even threatened with death because of their confession of Jesus Christ – but each of them is a part of our own family and thus an enrichment to ourselves!
Immediately before Jesus ascended into heaven to sit on His throne as the Lion of the tribe of Judah, He gave His faithful disciples one last commission: „Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation! (Mark chapter 16, verse 15) .
Indeed, preaching the gospel to the ends of the earth is even a condition for the return of Jesus (Matthew chapter 24, verse 14). Of course, not all of us can and should quit our jobs, leave the family and go off … but – all who profess Christ have the mandate to contribute their part to this work.
I’m too old or too young after all
Our youngest member is currently just 20 and our oldest came into this world in 1933.
And there’s still a lot of room for improvement both upwards and downwards! – So come on, we look forward to getting to know you!
Why specifically 12?
12 euros / dollars / pounds annual membership fee is actually more of a symbolic amount.
The most important thing for all of us was not to exclude anyone who wants to belong to Lion of Judah because of a lack of funds – and every student will be able to raise one euro a month. The fact that this amount does not even cover the administrative costs for the members is of secondary importance.
There are also people who say, „I am prepared to contribute 12 euros or more per month, because I am already obliged to pay more in broadcasting fees.
We simply trust that our Lord Jesus is also able to provide for His ministry.
Twelve is a number of perfection. It also means perfection of government or state perfection.
Our year has 12 months with 12 lunar cycles, there are 12 signs of the zodiac.
Every day and every night is divided into 12 hours, and an octave also consists of 12 semitones.
The number 12 has been a mythical number in many cultures around the world since prehistoric times.
But the number 12 also has a special biblical significance.
Indeed, it literally stretches from the beginning of God’s covenant people, the 12 tribes of Israel, through the first public appearance of our Lord Jesus at the age of 12 (Luke chapter 2, verse 42 ), his 12 disciples and the apostles, right into the distant future.
The appearance of the heavenly Jerusalem, with its 12 foundation stones, adorned with 12 kinds of precious stones, its 12 gates made of 12 pearls with 12 angels on them, its dimensions of 12,000 stadia and its wall of 144 (12 x 12) cubits (Revelation chapter 21), throughout the Bible.
Oh yes, the trees of life will also bear fruit 12 times a year :-).
These are just a few hints and can of course be supplemented by many other Bible passages.
It should only give you a small understanding of why the Holy Spirit has „whispered in our ear“ the number 12 for membership.
